Meet the Principal
Ms. Hyde, Principal
Hello and welcome! My name is Kristen Hyde and I am the proud principal of Bergen Elementary. I am thrilled to begin my seventh year at our wonderful school and my 30th year as an educator!
I am inspired and driven by our school’s mission statement: At Bergen Elementary, we educate and empower the whole child for success. We work daily to help our students to be successful both in school and beyond, providing them with academically rigorous content and focusing on whole child support.
My personal mission as a school leader, and as a human, is to allow others to be seen, heard, and valued. I work daily to cultivate connections with others, draw on their strengths, and empower them to do amazing things. My values of growth and hope guide me daily in my work as a school leader. I believe in continuous improvement and the relentless drive for progress - that each day is an opportunity to learn something new and be better than we were yesterday. I also have great hope for the future that we will be handing over to our children, and that it is our responsibility to prepare them for life outside of school and how to be successful, caring human beings.
I am so proud to lead our school, which is a place where our students are safe and thriving, where our kids and staff love coming to school, and where our community is welcomed and supported.
I live here in Evergreen and am honored to serve our community. In my free time I love to spend as much time as possible outdoors: running, rock climbing, camping, and just being outside in our beautiful state with my husband and our dog.
If I have not yet met you, please stop by to introduce yourself. I am looking forward to a great year together.
In partnership,
Kristen Hyde
Meet the Assistant Principal
Mrs. Boites, Assistant Principal
Hi there! My name is Sierra Boites and I am your new Assistant Principal at Bergen. My youngest daughter went to Bergen, my husband works at Bergen and until just recently we practically lived next door to Bergen! And I am coming to you from Evergreen Middle School just down the street. Needless to say, the Evergreen community has been a big part of my journey in schools.
My experience in education has varied widely and includes teaching and coaching in Texas, working in education and leadership in Corrections in California and then returning to public schools in Colorado. I have also worked as a Dean in a K-8. One thing I love about being an educator is that you get the unique opportunity to be a life-long learner and continuously grow. I hope that along the way I have taught as much as I have learned! I am grateful for the students, parents, fellow teachers, and all the staff in between who have made me become a better version of myself. And I truly believe we have a profound impact on the future paths of our students as educators. What we do in schools matters in the lifelong trajectory of the children in our care.
I cannot promise I will be perfect in this new role. But I can commit to the following:
1. I will be patient and kind.
2. I will be willing and eager to learn!
3. I will be a servant leader.
4. I will go above and beyond.
5. I will put what is best for children first.
I am excited for the year to come!
Evergreen is my home. My children attend school here. You will find me out in the community jogging, getting a Diet Coke at the gas station, and attending football games, swim meets, and dance lessons. To steal one of my favorite phrases from EMS and my former AP: "Today is a great day to learn in the mountains."
Warmly and in partnership,
Sierra Boites
