Assessments at Bergen
At Bergen, we use a comprehensive body of evidence to support each student's unique learning journey and ensure the best possible educational experience. Our dedicated staff utilizes a variety of age-appropriate assessments to monitor growth and guide instruction:
-
Teaching Strategies GOLD® (TS-GOLD) for Preschool students, focusing on developmental milestones and early learning progress.
-
Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) for Kindergarten through third grade, helping us track foundational literacy skills.
-
Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) for first through fifth grade, providing personalized insights into student growth in math and reading.
-
Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) for third through fifth grade, assessing mastery of grade-level academic standards.
By using these tools, Bergen ensures that each child receives the support they need to thrive academically and developmentally.
Assessments in Jeffco
Assessments inform instruction and monitor student progress. Assessments should:
- Add value to the student learning experience.
- Engage families in supporting their students.
- Help identify strengths, interests and opportunities for growth for all students.
A collection of assessment results can be used to help set goals, identify priorities and inform equity of access to grade-level learning.
Individual schools determine which additional assessments will support their specific student population’s learning. Each school will select specific dates within the district-provided assessment windows.
Some assessments are required by federal or state law; see information regarding state assessment participation. Families can refuse participation in state assessments for their students. Contact your student's school if you have questions about test refusals.
